Distillation Labware

Distillation is a process used widely in the laboratory or in wider working environments for separating or purifying liquids or liquid mixtures based on the different boiling points of individual components.
Distillation Applications:
• Separation and purification of miscible liquid mixtures in organic chemistry
• Drying of solid residues and/or solvent removal
• Fractional distillation of liquids from polymers and petroleum products
• Removal of particulates or other solid contaminants
• As part of a water purification system for production of distilled water for laboratory use
• Specialist steam distillation-based applications such as Kjeldahl analysis of nitrogen and proteins in food, beverage, or environmental samples
What Types of Distillation Equipment Are Available?
Conventional distillation apparatus, typically comprising individual, jointed borosilicate glassware components assembled by the user (depending upon the application), using appropriate clamps, stands, and supports. Most conventional distillation assemblies combine a round-bottomed distilling flask to contain and heat the liquid(s) that require purification, fitted with a stoppered or jointed neck to which is attached a downward-sloping, inclined side-arm for connection to a condensing unit to cool the heated vapors back down to their liquid state. Heating mantles are the preferred heat source for improved temperature control. These conventional distillation units are also available supplied complete and ready-assembled for added convenience and ease of use.
Specialized automated distillation equipment, notably units designed for the determination of volatile acidity and alcoholic strength by volume in wines, musts, and alcoholic beverages, and units designed for Kjeldahl nitrogen or protein determinations.

Equalizing arm 12/3 joints are supplied with ACE 7669-03 clamps. Top and bottom joints are 14/20. *Thermometer not included.

Vacuum Trap, 1000mL Capacity, Fits 4300mL Dewar Flask, 400mm OAH x 130mm Width, Complete. Similar to CG-4529, but having a 40mm o-ring joint to connect the trap body to the stopper. O-ring joint provides for a vacuum-tight grease-free seal and permits the trap body to be easily disconnected from the stopper for cleaning. Complete trap is supplied with a stopper, trap body and CG-150-09 clamp.

Plugs are supplied complete with CG-309 Perfluoro o-rings.

Heavy wall pressure vessels have an internal thread for use with PTFE bushings as pressure seals. The design allows hand tightening/loosening for easy access into the vessel. O-ring is positioned on the bushing above the thread for improved sealing. Supplied complete with vessel, PTFE bushing & Viton o-ring. Optional Perfluoro o-ring has the chemical resistance & service temperature range similar to Kalrez 4079. 45/50 Adapter, Multiport, PTFE. 45/50 Glass filled PTFE adapter has center port 3/4” female NPT and six side ports 1/4” female NPT. Adapter permits addition of liquids, monitoring of gases, insertion of glass baffles, infrared probes etc. The complete adapter consists of a PTFE standard taper body, Nylon loosening nut, (6) 1/4” NPT PTFE plugs, and (1) 3/4” NPT PTFE plug. Loosening nut above the standard taper inner joint allows easy and quick removal. Supplied complete with a Perfluoro o-ring on the body.
