Electron Microscopy Sciences Mold for Cell Culture
This mold is designed primarily for embedding cell culture specimens grown either directly on the bottom of a dish or on the filter when cross sections of the cells are needed. Cells grown on petri dishes are cut into strips just before the propylene oxide dehydration step; when Propylene Oxide is added, the strips lift right off the bottom. When the strips are ready for embedment, they are rolled on an applicator stick into a wad and gently lowered into the well (the strips should not float).

The curved side makes the tip very strong in spite of its thinness.

Leica Biosystems PARAFREE DISPOSABLE BASE MOLD
Disposable Base Molds have been designed to be compatible with any currently available cassette. The orientation of the specimen is made easier due to the transparency of the mold, while its rounded corners allow for easy block removal and paraffin ribbon continuity. Built up side walls reduce risk of paraffin seepage during embedding. Available in boxes of 400 or cases of 1600.
