ABclonal Technology GAPDH Rabbit pAb
This gene encodes a member of the glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase family, known as a moonlighting protein due to its multiple distinct functions. It catalyzes the reversible oxidative phosphorylation of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate in carbohydrate metabolism, involving inorganic phosphate and NAD. Additionally, the protein exhibits uracil DNA glycosylase activity in the nucleus and contains a peptide with antimicrobial properties against E. coli, P. aeruginosa, and C. albicans. In mice, similar proteins have been shown to regulate mRNA stability, nitrosylate nuclear proteins, and act as a transferrin receptor on macrophage surfaces. Many pseudogenes related to this gene exist in the human genome. Alternative splicing results in various transcript variants.
