Gelacell - PLLA scaffolds fixed to cell crowns in 24-well plate for 3D cell culture (1 plate). INTRO: Gelacell, manufactured by Gelatex Technologies, is a unique, 3D microfibrous scaffold designed for advanced in vitro 3D cell culture and tissue engineering applications. Designed as a non-woven, highly porous scaffold, Gelacell offers exceptional biocompatibility and non-toxicity across a variety of cell types. DESCRIPTION: This variant of Gelacell is specially designed for medium-to-long term culture durations. Scaffolds made from pharmaceutical grade poly-L-lactide (PLLA) are fixed to cell crowns in a 24-well plate. The cell crowns act as Boyden chambers for facilitating studies related to air-liquid interface culture, co-culture, complex tissue models, etc. The optimized design ensures thermal, chemical, and mechanical stability, while also providing substantial swelling capabilities and porosity, allowing efficient nutrient diffusion and thus preventing cellular waste build up.

Inserts are designed to fit in multiple well plates, centered in wells, preventing membrane from touching sides and wicking between insert and side wall. Membrane remains suspended above well bottom, allowing co-culture: grow one cell line inside insert, and another below in the well. Ideal for drug transfer assays, transport studies, migration assays, cell-cell interaction studies, and to mimic in vivo conditions. Insert features openings to allow access to lower compartment without removal from plate. 24 Well Plates come with 12 inserts to prevent cross-contamination; pass over empty wells instead of in-use inserts. PC membrane is best for cell attachment; PET is best for fluorescence imaging and phase contrast microscopy. 0.4μm pore size is ideal for co-culture and drug transport studies. 0.4μm PET inserts feature clear membranes for improved cell viewing. 3.0μm and 8.0μm pore size are ideal for angiogenesis and chemotaxis experiments.

The ibidi Culture-Insert family is developed for wound healing, co-cultivation, and migration assays of adherent cells. The Culture-Insert 2 Well consists of two wells, separated by a 500 µm wall. A proprietary biocompatible adhesive is applied to the underside of the Culture-Insert which allows it to adhere to any flat, clean, and dry surface. A cell suspension can be placed in the wells allowing the adherent cells to grow in the designated areas only. After cell cultivation, the Culture-Insert can be removed by using sterile tweezers. The removal creates a clean, cell-free, and well-defined 500 µm gap. Live-cell imaging can be used to analyze the gap closure.
