STEMCELL Technologies EpiCult™-B Mouse Medium Kit, Size: 500 mL
EpiCult™-B (mouse) is a serum-free liquid culture medium optimized for the culture of mouse mammary luminal and myoepithelial cells. It is ideal for the culture and evaluation of mouse mammary epithelial progenitors in the mammary colony-forming unit assay when used in conjunction with an irradiated feeder layer such as NIH 3T3 cells. This medium is also used for enzymatic dissociation of mouse mammary tissue when supplemented with collagenase and hyaluronidase. Addition of Human Recombinant EGF (Catalog #78006), Human Recombinant bFGF (Catalog #78003), and Heparin Solution (Catalog #07980) is required for culturing cells.

Lympholyte-Mammal is a density separation medium specifically designed for the isolation of viable lymphocytes and monocytes from the peripheral blood of most mammalian species. It consists of Sodium Diatrizoate combined with Dextran to induce erythrocyte aggregation and reduce platelet aggregation resulting in a higher yield of lymphocytes and monocytes. Lympholyte-Mammal can be utilized with a simple protocol for the elimination of erythrocytes and dead cells from the blood of most mammalian species. Lympholyte-Mammal also removes the majority of granulocytes (including neutrophils). The resulting cell population demonstrates a high and non-selective recovery of viable lymphocytes and monocytes.

In 1955, Leavitt et al. discovered Tryptic Soy Agar supported excellent growth of aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms. Tryptic Soy Agar is a nutritious base and a variety of supplements are added to enhance the medium, including Lecithin and Tween 80. The Lecithin and Tween 80 inactivate some preservatives that may inhibit bacterial growth, reducing “preservative carryover”. Brain Heart Infusion Broth is used for the cultivation of a wide variety of fastidious organisms and is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. A rich isotonic infusion medium with tryptose (a mixture of meat and milk peptones) providing a wide range of substrates. A low concentration of glucose is used to stimulate early growth. The medium is lightly buffered to prevent the early death of some species due to acid production. Organisms which produce significant amounts of acid may well overwhelm the buffering system and auto-sterilize. The medium is suitable for use as a blood culture medium or as an enrichment broth for fastidious organisms.
