Several culture models exist to study fibroblasts' ability of to reorganize and contract collagen matrices in vitro. In the floating matrix contraction model, a freshly polymerized collagen matrix containing cells is released from the culture dish and allowed to float in culture medium, and contraction occurs in the absence of external mechanical load and without appearance of stress fibers in the cells. The CytoSelect™ 24-Well Cell Contraction Assay Kit provides a simple system to assess cell contractivity in vitro and screen cell contraction mediators using the floating matrix model. The kit's proprietary Cell Contraction Plate eliminates the matrix releasing step of the conventional contraction assay, providing a faster, higher-throughput method to assess cell contraction. Each kit provides sufficient quantities to perform up to 24 assays in a 24-well plate.

Reduced expression of this gene inhibits interferon induction in the presence of some viral infections. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.

MitoPeDPP is a newly developed fluorescent dye that can penetrate cell membranes and is accumulated in the mitochondria due to the triphenylphosphonium moiety. MitoPeDPP accumulated in mitochondrial inner membranes is oxidized by lipophilic peroxide and then emits strong fluorescence. Since the excitation and emission wavelengths of the oxidized MitoPeDPP (Ox-MitoPeDPP) are 452 nm and 470 nm, respectively, photodamage and autofluorescence of the samples can be minimized. Therefore, MitoPeDPP can be applicable for imaging of the lipophilic peroxide in living cells under a fluorescence microscope. MitoPeDPP is used to monitor lipid peroxidation in ferroptosis research.
