NucView 488 Caspase-3 substrate is a novel, fluorogenic substrate for real-time or endpoint detection of apoptosis in live cells. The non-toxic, no-wash substrate is non-inhibitory to caspase-3 unlike other caspase substrates or FLICA assays permitting multiday analysis. Consisting of a high-affinity DNA dye linked to a DEVD caspase-3 substrate moiety, the initially non-fluorescent, cell permeable substrate is cleaved by caspase-3 in apoptotic cells and emits green fluorescence for the detection of both caspase-3 activity and apopototic nuclear morphology, in single-cells. As apoptotic rates and expression of asociated markers varies between cells, even within the same population, single-cell detection is important.
