Description

Methylation of CpA (mCpA) generates a DNA pyrimidine with a methyl group in the 5-carbon position. DNA methylation is usually catalyzed by DNA methyltransferases generally at CpG dinucleotide positions, though non-CpG methylation has also been reported at CpA and CpT sites. DNA methylation is known to repress gene expression.
