Description

Isolate and cultivate pathogenic yeast and molds from clinical specimens with this selective, ready-to-use medium.

Isolate and cultivate pathogenic yeast and molds from clinical specimens with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (Emmons) prepared media plates. Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (Emmons) is a modification of the original medium developed by Sabouraud in 18921. Emmons neutralized the pH, increasing it to 7.0, and reduced the concertation of dextrose from 40 to 20 g/L2. The addition of antibiotics in the medium makes the medium inhibitory to bacterial overgrowth while allowing isolation of pathogenic fungi.

  • Chloramphenicol inhibits some gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria
  • Gentamicin inhibits some gram-negative bacteria
