Ammonium hexachlororuthenate(IV) is used in laboratory chemicals and manufacture of other substances. Ammonium hexachlororuthenate (ACR) is a salt precipitated during a substitution reaction between ammonium and ruthenate dissolved in a strong hydrochloric acid medium. This precipitation reaction is used within the platinum industry as a means of recovering and purifying ruthenium.
