Apelin-13 (human, bovine, mouse, rat), H-Gln-Arg-Pro-Arg-Leu-Ser-His-Lys-Gly-Pro-Met-Pro-Phe-OH, 217082-58-1, C69H111N23O16S, Mr 1550.85, 5mg. Apelin-13, generated from apelin-36, is an endogenous peptide ligand for the human APJ receptor, a putative receptor protein related to the angiotensin receptor (AT1). Apelin-13 exerted an acidification-rate-promoting activity in the CHO cells expressing the APJ receptor with a median effective concentration (EC50) value of 0.37 nM. In a study of Valle et al. chronic central administration of apelin-13 over 10 days increased food intake, body weight, locomotor activity and body temperature in C57BL/6 mice.
