Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody

The PA1-73004 antibody reacts with Borrelia burgdorferi. This antibody cross-reacts with Treponema pallidum, B. hermsii & B. parkerii. PA1-73004 has been successfully used in Western blot, Immunohistochemistry (paraffin), and immunofluorescence applications. By Western blot, this antibody detects bands at 83, 41, 34 & 31 kDa, plus additional low MW bands. For immunofluorescence, specimens should be acetone-fixed for best results. The PA1-73004 antibody was raised against B. burgdorferi whole cell preparation. Short term, less than 6 months, storage is liquid at 4°C. For longer term storage, aliquot and freeze.

Borrelia burgdorferi is a spirochete and the cause of Lyme disease, a tick transmitted illness of humans and animals. B. burgdorferi may persist in humans and animals for months or years following initial infection, despite a robust humoral immune response. B. burgdorferi resembles other spirochetes in that it is a highly specialized, motile, two-membrane, spiral shaped bacteria which lives primarily as an extracellular pathogen. B. burgdorferi has an unusual genome compared with other eubacteria which includes a linear chromosome approximately one megabase in size and numerous linear and circular plasmids.
