Calcium Levofolinate (CAS 80433-71-2) is the calcium salt of levoleucovorin the biologically active enantiomer of folinic acid It functions as a reduced folate cofactor bypassing dihydrofolate reductase inhibition to support DNA and RNA synthesis In biomedical research Calcium Levofolinate is used to modulate the effects of antifolate chemotherapeutic agents such as methotrexate reducing cytotoxicity in normal cells It is also investigated for its ability to enhance the cytotoxic activity of 5-fluorouracil through stabilization of the ternary complex with thymidylate synthase facilitating studies on nucleotide metabolism and chemotherapeutic mechanisms
