Activate adenylyl cyclase with Forskolin. This cAMP pathway activator enables NGN2-mediated transdifferentiation of human fibroblasts to cholinergic neurons (Liu et al. Nat Commun, 2013) and modulates neuronal differentiation of rat hippocampal neural progenitor cells (Hsieh et al. Proc Natl Acad Sci USA, 2004; Palmer et al. Mol Cell Neurosci, 1997). Together with other small molecules, it also enables chemical reprogramming of mouse embryonic fibroblasts to induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells (Hou et al. Science, 2013), direct lineage reprogramming of fibroblasts to mature neurons (Hu et al. Cell Stem Cell, 2015; Li et al. Cell Stem Cell, 2015); and reprogramming of human embryonic stem (ES) cells to the “naïve” or ground state (Hanna et al. Proc Natl Acad Sci USA, 2010). Forskolin is supplied as a crystalline solid with ≥ 98% purity; Molecular weight 410.5 g/mol; CAS Number 66575-29-9. Visit STEMCELL.com for more information and related products.
