Description

With the Capsule Stain Kit (Hiss Method), capsules appear as faint Blue halos around blue to purple cells. Includes Solution I and Solution II.

  • Capsule Stain Kit
  • Contents: Crystal Violet, Copper Sulfate
  • Solution I - Aqueous Crystal Violet (1%) 250 mL and Solution II - Aqueous Copper Sulfate (20%) 250 mL
  • For in vitro diagnostic use
  • 1 Kit
  • Solution made from certified dyes (when applicable)
  • Recommended Procedure:
    • Grow organisms in ascitic fluid or serum medium, or mix a drop of serum with specimen and from this mixture, prepare smear.
    • Air dry.
    • Cover smear with Sol. for 2 minutes.
    • Wash off the stain with Sol. II.
    • The amount of washing must be determined empirically.
  • Results: Capsules appear as faint blue halos around dark blue to purple cells.
