Description: The 4E2/MCP antibody reacts with mouse monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1). Applications Reported: This 4E2 antibody has been reported for use in ELISA. Applications Tested: The 4E2 antibody has been tested as the capture antibody in a sandwich ELISA in combination with the Biotin 2H5 (cat. No.13-7096) antibody for detection of mouse CCL2 (MCP-1, MCP1, MCAF). A suitable range of concentrations of this antibody for ELISA capture is 1-4 µg/mL. Purity: Greater than 90%, as determined by SDS-PAGE. Aggregation: Less than 10%, as determined by HPLC. Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.This gene is one of several cytokine genes clustered on the q-arm of chromosome 17. Cytokines are a family of secreted proteins involved in immunoregulatory and inflammatory processes. The protein encoded by this gene is structurally related to the CXC subfamily of cytokines. Members of this subfamily are characterized by two cysteines separated by a single amino acid. This cytokine displays chemotactic activity for monocytes and basophils but not for neutrophils or eosinophils. It has been implicated in the pathogenesis of diseases characterized by monocytic infiltrates, like psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis and atherosclerosis. It binds to chemokine receptors CCR2 and CCR4.
