Chlamydia pecorum Fukushi and Hirai (ATCC VR-1575) is a tissue culture-adapted ovine polyarthritis strain supplied frozen for laboratory propagation and research. The strain is propagated in McCoy B cells, exhibits cytopathic effect and cytoplasmic inclusions, and must be handled under BSL-2 conditions.
- Tissue culture-adapted ovine polyarthritis strain.
- Supplied frozen; store at -70°C or colder.
- Propagate in McCoy B cells for infection and recovery.
- Shows cytopathic effect and cytoplasmic inclusions.
- Incubate at 37°C in a 5% CO2 atmosphere for 48-72 hours.
- Use complete DMEM supplemented with 10% prescreened FBS, 10 mM HEPES, and 2 μg/mL cycloheximide.
- Mycoplasma not detected in the supplied material.
