Applications: Flow Cytometry, Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin, Immunohistochemistry-Frozen, Immunohistochemistry Free-Floating, Immunohistochemistry Whole-Mount, Immunofluorescence, Immunocytochemistry

  • DAPI is excluded by viable cells but can penetrate cell membranes of dying or dead cells, in which it intercalates into double stranded nucleic acids.
  • Dead cells which take up DAPI will fluoresce brightly around 461nm.
  • DAPI may be excited by the UV or violet lasers although the UV laser is much more efficient.
  • DAPI's emission spectra is very similar to the Pacific Blue (TM) dye.
  • Alternate names for DAPI Solution:
    • 2-(4-Amidinophenyl)-6-indolecarbamidine dihydrochloride
    • 4,6-Diamidino-2-phenylindole dihydrochloride
    • DAPI dihydrochloride
  • Dilutions: Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence 0.1-1.0μg/mL
