Description
- DAPI is excluded by viable cells but can penetrate cell membranes of dying or dead cells, in which it intercalates into double stranded nucleic acids.
- Dead cells which take up DAPI will fluoresce brightly around 461nm.
- DAPI may be excited by the UV or violet lasers although the UV laser is much more efficient.
- DAPI's emission spectra is very similar to the Pacific Blue (TM) dye.
- Alternate names for DAPI Solution:
- 2-(4-Amidinophenyl)-6-indolecarbamidine dihydrochloride
- 4,6-Diamidino-2-phenylindole dihydrochloride
- DAPI dihydrochloride
- Dilutions: Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence 0.1-1.0μg/mL
