Rabbit Recombinant Monoclonal Antibody

Description: This antibody is predicted to react with canine, mouse and rat based on sequence homology. Intact IgG appears on a non-reducing gel as ~150 kDa band and upon reduction generating a ~25 kDa light chain band and a ~50 kDa heavy chain. Applications Reported: This 30H45L48 antibody has been reported for use in western blotting, immunocytochemistry and Chromatin immunoprecipation. Applications Tested: This 30H45L48 antibody has been tested by immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed paraffin embedded human tissue using high pH antigen retrieval and can be used at 5 μg/mL. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest. Using conjugate solutions: Centrifuge the protein conjugate solution briefly in a microcentrifuge before use; add only the supernatant to the experiment. This step will help eliminate any protein aggregates that may have formed during storage, thereby reducing nonspecific background staining.

EGFR, epidermal growth factor receptor, is a receptor tyrosine kinases that signals in response to various growth factors. Overexpression has been linked to numerous types of cancer and EGFR is the target of both biological and small molecular therapeutics. EGFR is encoded by the EGFR gene located on chromosome 7 in humans. EGFR belongs to the HER/ERbB family of proteins that includes three other receptor tyrosine kinases, ERbB2, ERbB3, ERbB4. EGFR is a transmembrane receptor and binding of its cognate ligands such as EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) and TGF alpha (Transforming Growth Factor alpha) to the extracellular domain leads to EGFR dimerization followed by autophosphorylation of the tyrosine residues in the cytoplasmic domain. Overexpression is observed in tumors of the head and neck, brain, bladder, stomach, breast, lung, endometrium, cervix, vulva, ovary, esophagus, stomach and in squamous cell carcinoma.
