Invitrogen™ Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) Colorimetric Activity Kit

Description
The Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) Colorimetric Assay Kit is a highly reliable and sensitive assay designed for the quantitative measurement of LDH in serum, plasma, tissue, and cell culture samples. LDH is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of lactate to pyruvate, an essential step in cellular energy metabolism. Elevated LDH levels are associated with tissue damage, inflammation, and certain diseases, making it a useful biomarker in clinical and research settings.
In this assay, LDH catalyzes lactic acid to produce pyruvate. Pyruvate reacts with 2, 4-dinitrophenylhydrazine to form pyruvate dinitrophenylhydrazone, which is red-brown in alkaline solution. The color intensity is proportional to pyruvate concentration, where the activity of LDH can be calculated by measuring OD value.
