Description

Russell Viper Venom-based test for screening of resistance to Activated Protein C (APC) in plasma from individuals with the Factor V (Leiden) defect.

The Factor V Leiden assay is a simple functional clotting test system intended for screening of resistance to activated protein C (APC) in plasma from individuals with the factor V Leiden defect. Siemen's Factor V Leiden assay is based on the activation of endogenous protein C by incubation of plasma with Agkistrodon contortrix contortrix (southern copperhead) venom. A dilute Russell’s viper venom time (DRVVT) test is then performed on the plasma.
