CD16b is a low-affinity, GPI-linked receptor expressed by neutrophils and eosinophils, whereas CD16a is an intermediate affinity polypeptide-anchored transmembrane glycoprotein expressed natural killer cells, macrophages, subpopulation of T-cells, immature thymocytes and placentaltrophoblasts.
