Description

Description

Description: The monoclonal antibody CDF4 recognizes human Golgin-97. Golgin-97, a GRIP domain protein member that was first identified as a Golgi complex autoantigen associated with Sjogren's syndrome. Golgin-97 is a peripheral membrane protein found on the trans face of the Golgi apparatus. The protein G family member, Arl1, mediates the binding of Golgin-97 to the Golgi membrane. Like all GRIP proteins, Golgin-97 functions in maintaining the integrity of the trans Golgi network. Golgin-97 has also been shown to function as a tethering molecule in the retrograde transport of proteins from the endosomes to the trans Golgi network. During poxvirus infection, Golgin-97 incorporates into virions and plays a role in viral replication and morphogenesis. Applications Reported: This CDF4 antibody has been reported for use in western blotting, immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections, immunohistochemical staining, and immunocytochemistry. Applications Tested: This CDF4 antibody has been tested by immunocytochemistry of fixed and permeabilized HeLa cells and can be used at less than or equal to 1 μg/mL. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest. Purity: Greater than 90%, as determined by SDS-PAGE. Aggregation: Less than 10%, as determined by HPLC. Filtration: 0.2 μm post-manufacturing filtered.

The Golgi apparatus, which participates in glycosylation and transport of proteins and lipids in the secretory pathway, consists of a series of stacked cisternae (flattened membrane sacs). Interactions between the Golgi and microtubules are thought to be important for the reorganization of the Golgi after it fragments during mitosis. The Golgins are a family of proteins, of which the protein encoded by this gene is a member, that are localized to the Golgi. This encoded protein is associated with Sjogren's syndrome.
