This shuttle vector contains the complete ORF for the gene of interest, along with a Kozak consensus sequence for optimal translation initiation. It is inserted NotI to AscI. • FSTL4 is a presumably secreted member of the follistatin domaincontaining protein family.
• Follistatin itself is a potent inhibitor of the TGF-beta superfamily member, activin, and this activity is reflected in several other proteins of this family that contain varying numbers of the cysteine-rich follistatin domain.
• Alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different proteins have been described.
