BioVendor, LLC Human Growth Hormone Binding Protein (GHBP) ELISA, 96 wells

Supplier: BioVendor, LLC RMEE024R

Human Growth Hormone Binding Protein (GHBP) ELISA, 96 wells. Immunoassay kit to measure GHBP in human serum or plasma samples. Two Control Sera are provided for QC purposes. Cal. range: 0.006-84 ng/mL. Detection limit: 0.006 ng/mL. SUMMARY: In humans, GHBP is formed by receptor shedding of GH receptor (Somatotropin receptor) by ADAM17. In equilibrium ~50% of circulating GH is bound to GHBP. In guinea pig model, complex formation increases half-life from 11-20 mins up to ~100 mins and in general binding to GHBP inhibits GH cellular action. GHBP levels are independent of GH pulsatility and do not show circadian rhythm. GHBP correlates positively with intraabdominal fat mass and is increased in T2D with hyperinsulinemia. Undetectable GHBP levels could point to GH insensitivity, caused by a deletion in GHR gene. Further, IGF-I/GHBP ratio may indicate GH-deficiency in adults and may be predictive for GH treatment response. GHBP may be a biomarker for the amount of visceral adipose tissue.
