Myostatin Propeptide (human) Recombinant Protein, RP-8653, from Invitrogen.

Myostatin (GDF-8), a member of the TGF-beta superfamily, is a potent and specific negative regulator of skeletal muscle mass. The myostatin propeptide is known to bind and inhibit myostatin in vitro. This interaction is relevant in vivo, with a majority (>70%) of myostatin in serum bound to its propeptide acting as a negative regulator of myostatin. Recombinant human Myostatin Propeptide is a non-glycosylated protein, containing 244 amino acids, with a molecular weight of 27.8 kDa. Purity is typically greater than 95% and endotoxin level less than 1 EU/ug. The expected biological activity (ED50) is determined by the ability to inhibit 50 ng/mL of Myostatin on MPC-11 cells and is typically 0.01-0.04 ug/mL. The specific activity of this protein is 2.5x10^5 units/mg. Reconstitute using sterile 20mM HCl at 0.1mg/mL and centrifuge prior to opening vial. Gently pipet solution down the sides of the vial. DO NOT VORTEX sample. Store reconstituted material at -20°C and add 0.1% BSA for additional stability.
