Activate the JAK/STAT signal transduction pathway and control a diverse array of immunological functions using interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) (de Weerd & Nguyen. Immunol Cell Biol, 2012). IFN-γ stimulates the antimicrobial and anti-tumor activity of macrophages, NK cells, and neutrophils by promoting the production of reactive oxygen species, nitric oxide, and complement (Schroder et al. J Leukoc Biol, 2004). IFN-γ also enhances MHC class I and II expression in dendritic cells and mononuclear phagocytes. In B cells, IFN-γ stimulates survival and growth in both mouse and human cells and redirects B cells from proliferation towards differentiation. IFN-γ favors the development of Th1 vs Th2 cells and stimulates monocyte differentiation and function (Schroder et al.). Human recombinant IFN-γ from STEMCELL comes lyophilized with ≥ 95% purity; EC50 ≤ 0.05 ng/mL; endotoxin levels verified ≤ 0.2 EU/μg protein. Alternative names: Interferon gamma, Type II interferon.
