Preparation: Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Murine IL-6. Anti-Murine IL-6-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography employing an immobilized Murine IL-6 matrix. Sandwich ELISA: To detect Murine IL-6 by sandwich ELISA (using 100 μL/well antibody solution) a concentration of 0.5-2.0 μg/mL of this antibody is required. This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Biotinylated Anti-Murine IL-6 (500-P56Bt) as a detection antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2-0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Murine IL-6. Western Blot: To detect Murine IL-6 by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1-0.2 μg/mL. When used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Murine IL-6 is 1.5-3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

IL-6 is a gene that encodes a cytokine that plays a role in inflammation and the maturation of B cells. The protein produced by this gene is an endogenous pyrogen that can induce fever in people with autoimmune diseases or infections. The gene is primarily expressed at sites of acute and chronic inflammation, where it is secreted into the serum and induces a transcriptional inflammatory response through interleukin 6 receptor, alpha. The functioning of this gene is implicated in a wide variety of inflammation-associated disease states, including suspectibility to diabetes mellitus and systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Elevated levels of the encoded protein have been found in virus infections, including COVID-19 (disease caused by SARS-CoV-2). Diseases associated with IL6 include Kaposi Sarcoma and Rheumatoid Arthritis, Systemic Juvenile.
