  • Incorrect choice of an inlet liner causes higher potential of peak tailing and mass discrimination
  • Liner volume is recommended to be larger than the amount of sample injected by syringe so as to avoid any reaction with the sample
  • Suitable for making a connection between sample introduction and GC columns
  • Direct type has narrow bore which sustains a high linear velocity through the injection port
  • Diminishes band broadening and transferring all the samples to column, flash vaporization
