Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning in the specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Then, individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production. The advantages of using Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies include: better specificity and sensitivity, lot-to-lot consistency, animal origin-free formulations, and broader immunoreactivity to diverse targets due to larger rabbit immune repertoire.

The causative agent of what is commonly called Legionnaire ft.s Disease, Legionella pneumophila causes acute pneumonia. The disease can also present itself as an nonpneumonic, influenza-like illness called Pontiac Fever. Legionella is found in aquatic environments where it ft.s growth is supported by amoebae. In human infections Legionella acts as an intracellular parasite and multiplies in alveolar macrophages. The genus Legionella contains 39 recognized species. The immunological diversity of Legionella is due to the existence of a variety of serogroups. Legionella pneumophila has the most with a total of 14 serogroups.
