Retrofit part for the Bolt™ Mini Gel Tank

The Cassette Clamp Cam Handle Set is a retrofit part for the Bolt™ Mini Gel Tank to enable it to securely fit Novex™ gels, NuPAGE™ gels, and Bolt™ Bis-Tris Plus gels in a manner similar to the Mini Gel Tank. Customers who have the Bolt™ Mini Gel Tank can replace the original black cam handles on their cassette clamps with these grey cam handles to more conveniently run these 10 cm wide gels.

About the Mini Gel Tank
The Mini Gel Tank is compatible with a variety of Novex™ gels, NuPAGE™ gels, and Bolt™ Bis-Tris Plus gels. Each Mini Gel Tank can accommodate up to two gels per run. The unique tank design enables convenient side-by-side gel loading and enhanced viewing during use. Optimized conditions using constant voltage allow for Bolt™ Bis-Tris Plus gels to be run in approximately 35 minutes. Run times may vary depending on buffer conditions and power supplies being used.

Can I prepare my protein sample with the reducing agent and store it for future use?

DTT is not stable, so it must be added and the reduction performed just prior to loading your samples.

My LDS or SDS sample buffer precipitates when stored at 4 degrees C. Can I warm it up? Can I store it at room temperature?

Precipitation of the LDS or SDS at 4 degrees C is normal. Bring the buffer to room temperature and mix until the LDS/SDS goes into solution. If you do not want to wait for it to dissolve, you can store the sample buffer at room temperature.

How can I upgrade the Bolt Mini Gel Tank to run the Bolt Bis-Tris Plus gels I recently purchased?

The Bolt Mini Gel Tank has been discontinued as of December 31, 2014, and will be offered until inventory is depleted. To upgrade the Bolt Mini Gel Tank to run the new Bolt Bis-Tris Plus gels as well as other Invitrogen Mini gels, you have to replace the black 10.5 cm cassette clamp cam handles with gray 10 cm cassette clamp cam handles (Cat. No. A26732). Instructions for replacement of the cam handles can be found in this video.
