StatLab Diastase, a MasterTech Special Stain Kit Component

  • Diastase contains alpha-amylase and depolymerizes glycogen into smaller sugar units primarily maltose and glucose
  • These units are then removed from the tissue section by rinsing with water
  • Used to specifically identify and differentiate glycogen within a tissue sample by digesting it allowing for a comparison between a treated and untreated section when stained with Periodic Acid-Schiff (PAS) stain
  • A MasterTech Special Stain Kit Component
