Methotrexate is clinically used to treat various cancers, ectopic pregnancy, and rheumatoid arthritis. Methotrexate inhibits dihydrofolate reductase, preventing thymidine, DNA, and RNA synthesis. In vivo, methotrexate increases T cell apoptosis, decreases T cell activation, and suppresses cytokine production.
