It is used in cosmetic and personal care products as a colorant with opacifying properties. Its reflective and refractive properties make mica an important ingredient in makeup, moisturizing lotions, toothpastes, and nail polish. It appears as a clear, lustrous, crystalline solid plates and is insoluble in cold water.
