It serves as an intermediate for photographic chemicals, in industrial glues, in artificial fingernail preparations, colorants, pharmaceuticals. It reacts with vinyl ether in the presence of copper(II) chloride gives tetrahydroquinolines. Further, it is used to accelerate polymerization of ethyl methacrylate.
