ODQ is a potent and selective, direct-acting inhibitor of guanylate cyclase (IC50=20 nM). In cerebellar slices ODQ reversibly inhibited cGMP generation in response to endogenous NO or exogenously added NO-donors. ODQ does not inhibit NO-mediated macrophage toxicity (a phenomenon unrelated to cGMP) and does not inhibit particulate guanylyl cyclase or adenylyl cyclase. ODQ is an unique and selective tool to elucidate the physiological importance of the NO-cGMP pathway. Formula: C9H5N3O2. MW: 187.2. Purity: ≥98% (TLC).
