Lee Biosolutions Inc Pregnant Mare Serum Gonadotropin (PMSG) | 2.5 kIU
Supplier: Lee Biosolutions Inc 493102.5

Pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG) is a glycoprotein hormone synthesized in the domestic horse placenta. Commercial preparations are isolated from the serum of pregnant mares. The hormone is a dimer of non-covalently associated alpha and beta subunits. It is a unique member of the gonadotropin family in that it contains high levels of FSH and LH activity. Its ability to stimulate ovulation is determined in a bioassay, and the results are expressed as international units (IU). PMSG that has been purified to homogeneity has approximately 16,000 IU/mg protein. PMSG may be used to induce ovulation in livestock prior to artificial insemination.
