Rabbit Recombinant Monoclonal Antibody

Preparation: This antibody was obtained from a rabbit immunized with purified, recombinant Mouse RBP4 (Met1-Leu201) and conjugated with FITC under optimum conditions, the unreacted FITC was removed. Storage: This antibody can be stored at 2C-8C for twelve months without detectable loss of activity. Protected from prolonged exposure to light. Do not freeze! Sodium azide is toxic to cells and should be disposed of properly. Flush with large volumes of water during disposal.

This protein belongs to the lipocalin family and is the specific carrier for retinol in the blood. It delivers retinol from the liver stores to the peripheral tissues. In plasma, the RBP-retinol complex interacts with transthyretin which prevents its loss by filtration through the kidney glomeruli. A deficiency of vitamin A blocks secretion of the binding protein post translationally and results in defective delivery and supply to the epidermal cells.
