Description
Cultivate a wide variety of fastidious and non-fastidious microorganisms using BHI Broth (Dehydrated).
Cultivate a wide variety of fastidious and non-fastidious microorganisms using Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ BHI Broth (Dehydrated). Rosenow developed a medium for culturing Streptococci by adding pieces of brain tissue to dextrose broth1. BHI Broth is used to cultivate a wide variety of microorganisms including bacteria, yeasts, and molds. It is also used for the preparation of inocula for use in antimicrobial susceptibility tests and broth microdilution for minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) testing. This medium has been recommended by the Food and Drug Administration2.
This medium contains peptones and infusions of brain and heart tissue which supply protein and other nutrients necessary for the growth of bacteria. Sodium chloride provides essential electrolytes and maintains osmotic equilibrium. Disodium phosphate acts as a buffer and dextrose is a source of energy.
