Description

Cultivate and maintain wide variety of microorganisms with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Nutrient Agar (Dehydrated). This is a non-selective medium which was formulated by APHA in 19171 as a standaridized medium for the use in the examination of water, wastewater, dairy products and various foods2-4. This medium is also used for the recovery of non-fastidious microorganisms and to cultivate and maintain stock cultures.

Cultivate and maintain wide variety of microorganisms with Nutrient Agar.

  • Nutrient Agar is a general-purpose medium used to subculture organisms for maintenance purposes or to check the purity of subcultures from isolation plates prior to biochemical or serological tests.
  • Nutrient Agar is suitable for teaching and demonstration purposes.

This medium is used for qualitative procedures. This medium contains beef extract that provides carbohydrates, vitamins, nitrogen compounds, and salts. Gelatin peptone provides nutrients in the form of amino acids and peptides. They are found to be nutritious as meat infusion.
