The Savanna HSV 1+2/VZV Assay is an automated, rapid multianalyte real-time PCR test intended for use with the Savanna Platform and approved for the simultaneous qualitative detection and differentiation of herpes simplex virus type 1, herpes simplex virus type 2 and varicella-zoster virus.

  • The Savanna HSV 1+2/VZV Assay is a triplex assay that quickly distinguishes between three distinct herpes viruses: Herpes simplex virus 1, herpes simplex virus 2 and varicella-zoster, the virus that causes chicken pox and shingles infections
  • Why perform a triplex assay?
    • Visual differentiation of herpes lesions is not possible
    • Herpes lesions can present in atypical anatomic locations
    • Distinguish between HSV-1, HSV-2, and VZV in under 25 minutes withone patient sample
