It is structurally similar to vancomycin and functions by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, making it effective against various Gram-positive bacteria. Teicoplanin has been explored for its potential use in treating COVID-19 due to its ability to inhibit the viral life cycle of coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV-2.
