Mouse Monoclonal Antibody

Description: The A6.1 monoclonal antibody recognizes human, mouse, and rat thrombospondin-1, a member of the thrombospondin family of extracellular calcium-binding proteins. Thrombospondin-1 is a secreted glycoprotein that was first discovered in activated platelets but is also expressed by endothelial cells, adipocytes, fibroblasts, macrophages, monocytes, and smooth muscle cells. Thrombospondin-1 functions by binding members of the extracellular matrix such as fibronectin, integrins, and heparin, and its signaling is mediated through activation of the TGF beta signaling pathway. Thrombospondin-1 has been shown to be involved in angiogenesis, inflammation, osteogenesis, cell proliferation, and synaptogenesis during neural development. Applications Reported: This A6.1 antibody has been reported for use in immunoprecipitation, western blotting, immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections, microscopy, ELISA, and immunocytochemistry. Applications Tested: This A6.1 antibody has been tested by immunohistochemistry of formalin-fixed paraffin embedded human tissue using high pH antigen retrieval and can be used at less than or equal to 1 μg/mL. This A6.1 antibody has been tested by immunocytochemistry of formaldehyde or methanol fixed and permeabilized human cells and can be used at less than or equal to 1 μg/mL. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest. Purity: Greater th...

Thrombospondin is a protein from platelet a-granules. It is made up of three identical subunits bound by interchain disulfides. It is secreted at sites of platelet activation and aggregation and is involved in the processes of chemotaxis, adhesion, proliferation and differentiation of leukocytes, fibroblasts, smooth muscle and endothelial cells.
