BioVendor, LLC Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) Rat ELISA, 96 wells

Supplier: BioVendor, LLC RTC007R

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) Rat ELISA, 96 wells. Immunoassay kit for quantification of TSH in rat serum samples (25 uL/well). Calibration Range: 2.5-80 ng/mL. Detection Limit: 0.1 ng/mL. Synonyms: thyrotropin, thyrotropic hormone. Summary: TSH is a hormone synthesized and secreted by thyrotrope cells in the anterior pituitary gland which regulates the endocrine function of the thyroid gland. TSH stimulates the thyroid gland to secrete the hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). TSH production is controlled by Thyrotropin Releasing Hormone (TRH), which is manufactured in the hypothalamus and transported to the Anterior Pituitary gland, where it increases TSH production and release. TSH levels are an important indicator of thyroid function. The thyroid function control mechanism in rats is exactly analogous to that of humans. This similarity between rat and human thyroid physiology makes the rat a useful model to evaluate effects of new drugs on thyrometabolic status.
