Spectrum™ Chemical Urea, BiotechGrade is an odorless and colorless solid that is an important nitrogen-containing substance found in mammal urine. In concentrations up to 10 M, urea is a powerful protein denaturant as it disrupts the noncovalent bonds in the proteins. This property can be exploited to increase the solubility of some proteins. Spectrum offers highly pure reagents suitable for biochemical research and analysis. The critical parameters involved are absence of inhibitors such as traces of heavy metals as well as biochemical function tests for enzymes, coenzymes and enzyme substrates.
