2'-Deoxyadenosine monohydrate is an adenine nucleoside that inhibits glucose-stimulated insulin release. It also inhibits glucose-stimulated increases in islet cyclic AMP (cAMP) accumulation, activates caspase-3, promotes apoptosis, and inhibits the activity of S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine hydrolase (SAHH). Additionally, it inhibits the growth of various cells and exhibits an anticancer effect on colon cancer.
