Chicoric acid (Cichoric acid), also known as dicaffeyltartaric acid, is an orally active compound that induces reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. It has been shown to inhibit cell viability and induce mitochondria-dependent apoptosis in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes through ROS-mediated PI3K/Akt and MAPK signaling pathways. Chicoric acid can increase glucose uptake, improve insulin resistance, and attenuate glucosamine-induced inflammation. It possesses antidiabetic properties, as well as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
