Silydianin is a flavonolignan obtained from *Silybum marianum*. It inhibits PTP1B, monophenolase, and diphenolase of tyrosinase. Silydianin induces apoptosis and reduces cytokines (IL-4 and IL-5). It also exhibits antitumor activity against prostate cancer. As part of Silymarin, it contributes to antioxidant, cytoprotective, and immunomodulatory effects, and can be used in allergic asthma research.
