NEOGEN A-1 Medium, 10 kg
A-1 Medium is used for the detection of coliform organisms in water and food in a laboratory setting. A-1 Medium is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans.Since the early 1900’s enumeration of coliform organisms, specifically E. coli, have been used to determine water purity. Elevated temperature and most-probable-number (MPN) methods are routinely used for analysis of water and food samples for presence of fecal coliforms. A-1 Medium was formulated to hasten E. coli recovery and reduce the incidence of false positive cultures. In 1972 Andrews and Presnell developed A-1 Medium. This medium recovers E. coli from estuarine water in 24 hours instead of 72 hours, and in greater numbers without the pre-enrichment step. A-1 Medium can be used in a single step procedure for the detection of fecal coliforms in source water, seawater, treated wastewater, and foods. For more information visit https://www.neogen.com/solutions/Microbiology/a-1-medium

NEOGEN Tryptone Glucose Extract (TGE) Agar, 5 kg
Tryptone Glucose Extract (TGE) Agar is used for the cultivation and enumeration of microorganisms in dairy and bottled water products. Tryptone Glucose Extract (TGE) Agar is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. In the 1930’s, Bower and Hucker developed a medium for detecting bacteria in milk and other dairy products. Prickett used a glucose agar containing tryptone to study thermophilic bacteria in milk. This medium is known as Yeast Dextrose Agar. In 1948, the American Public Health Association (APHA) adopted Tryptone Glucose Extract Agar for use in testing milk and dairy products. Currently, APHA specifies Tryptone Glucose Extract Agar for the heterotrophic plate count procedure in testing bottled water. Tryptone Glucose Extract Agar is also known as Yeast Dextrose Agar. For more information visit https://www.neogen.com/solutions/Microbiology/tryptone-glucose-extract-tge-agar

NEOGEN Buffered Sodium Chloride - Peptone Broth pH 7.0, 10 kg
Buffered Sodium Chloride-Peptone Broth pH 7.0 is the diluent specified by the Harmonized Pharmacopoeia for the microbiological examination of non-sterile products andconforms to Harmonized USP/EP/JP Requirements in a laboratory setting. Buffered Sodium Chloride-Peptone Broth pH 7.0 is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans.Buffered Sodium Chloride-Peptone Broth pH 7.0 is recommended by the Harmonized Pharmacopoeia (USP/EP/JP) for the microbiological examination of non-sterile products. The low level of peptone lessens the physiological shock experienced by microorganism when suspended in a diluent. The dual phosphate components create a buffered environment and sodium chloride maintains the osmotic balance. For more information visit https://www.neogen.com/solutions/Microbiology/buffered-sodium-chloride-peptone-broth-ph-7

NEOGEN Letheen Broth Base without Tween, 5 kg
Letheen Broth Base (no tween) is used with Tween 80 (Polysorbate 80) for the testing of samples containing quaternary ammonium compounds for antimicrobial activity in a laboratory setting. Letheen Broth Base (no tween) is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. In 1948, Weber and Black described the value of a highly nutritional solid medium containing neutralizing agents for quaternary ammonium compounds in sanitizers. The addition of Lecithin and Polysorbate 80 to Tryptone Glucose Extract (TGE) Agar resulted in a medium that effectively neutralizes quaternary ammonium compounds while testing germicidal activity. Letheen Agar is a modification of TGE Agar with the addition of Lecithin and Polysorbate 80.Letheen Broth Base was developed as a subculture medium for the neutralization of quaternary ammonium compounds in disinfectant testing. For more information visit https://www.neogen.com/solutions/Microbiology/letheen-broth-base-without-tween

NEOGEN MacConkey Agar, 5 kg
MacConkey Agar is used for the isolation and differentiation of Gram-negative enteric bacilli in a laboratory setting. Conforms to Harmonized USP/EP/JP Requirements and FDA/BAM. MacConkey Agar is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. A medium recommended by the Harmonized USP/EP/JP for isolation and identification of Escherichia coli from non-sterile products. Conforms to USP/EP/JP performance specification. Gelatin serves as source of carbon and nitrogen. Lactose is a fermentable carbohydrate and sodium chloride maintains the osmotic balance. Bile salts and crystal violet act as selective agents inhibiting many Gram-positive bacteria. Escherichia coli can ferment lactose to produce acid which results in a pH drop. This is indicated by neutral red resulting in pink colonies. For more information visit https://www.neogen.com/solutions/Microbiology/macconkey-agar
