NEOGEN Todd Hewitt Broth, 500 g
Todd Hewitt Broth is used for the cultivation of streptococci and other fastidious microorganisms. Todd Hewitt Broth is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. Todd Hewitt Broth was originally developed for the production of antigenic streptococcal hemolysin. Todd Hewitt Broth is prepared according to the formula described by Updyke and Nickle, who compared media for type specific extract production of group A streptococci. This study was performed using Todd Hewitt Broth prepared with infusion of fresh beef heart as a control. Results showed Todd Hewitt Broth was particularly satisfactory for growth of group A streptococci for serological typing. Diagnostic reagent for quantitative in vitro determination of Total Bile Acids in animal serum, heparin plasma or stool samples on photometric systems. For veterinary or research use only. Serum TBA levels are a sensitive marker of liver function, reflecting hepatic synthesis, secretion and re-absorption. Compared to conventional liver screening tests such as ALT or AST, which indicate acute liver damage, the determination of total bile acids allows early detection of liver dysfunction and early treatment and prevention of severe, irreversible liver damage. Once a patient suffers from a liver disease, serum TBA can be used to monitor the treatment response. Although TBA levels provide early diagnosis of hepatobiliary deficiencies, they do not allow the differentiation between various diseases. Method: Enzymatic cycling method. Reagent 1 contains Buffer, Thio-NAD, reagent 2 contains Buffer, and 3-α-HSD. Reagents must be stored refrigerated.
